Cost |

A popular misconception is that Japan is expensive... JAPAN IS NOT EXPENSIVE! Accommodation,
Meals, Ski Hire, Lift Passes: all less expensive than Australian or American
ski resorts. Restaurants prices are very reasonable -the village even has a 100Yen noodle
bar- that's about Aus$1.10 for an inexpensive meal. |

Credit Cards |
|

Credit cards are not universally accepted. Japan is still very much
a cash society
and it is recommended that you bring
plenty of cash (Japanese Yen). Japan is relatively
crime free and regarded as one of the safest
places in the world.

Medical |

We recommend that all travellers to Japan view the

in and print out a copy of the Health Sheet and take a copy with you when you travel.
If you become ill or have an accident it will help medical personnel to provide
the appropriate treatment. As an added precaution, you should consider

Weather |

Average daytime temperatures in winter rarely get warmer than minus 10C. A neck-warmer
and good thermals as well as Goggles are essential articles of clothing.

Restaurants |

Niseko is renowned for its fresh sea-food and locally grown potatoes which are used
in much of the local cuisine. There are also Italian, Mexican, Nepalese, Thai and
a host of other great restaurants and small cosy bars - most with open fires.
The food is always fresh and will not disappoint. A variety of wines are available
although the local draught beers are generally more popular. |

Emergency Services |
|

Most emergency services only speak Japanese, in case of emergency contact your local
tour supervisor to assist with translation. |

|

Banks / ATM |
|
|
|
The nearest Bank or Post Office where cash can be obtained is in nearby Kutchan,
15 minutes by bus or car. You can only withdraw cash from your credit card. Savings
Bank access is not available. |

Hot Springs |
|
|
|
Niseko is one of the most famous onsen destinations in Japan, with many natural
hot springs rising from deep within the ground. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Massage |
|
|
|
Local massage therapists will come to your accommodation, or you can visit a massage
therapist in their salon to relieve your tired muscles after a day on the slopes. |

|
|
|
Public Transport |
|
|
|
Shuttles buses run around the village and are free if you have a ski pass. Cost
without ski pass 500Yen approx AUD$5.00 |

Hire Cars |
|
|
|
4x4 Rental Cars and MPV’s are readily available within the village or at nearby

Boot Fitting |
|
|
|
When skiing or snow boarding, your boots are your most important piece of equipment.
Your boots must fit correctly if you are going to enjoy your day on the slopes.
If you plan to continue in the sport why not consider buying your boots and having
them fitted professionally.

Insurance |
|
|
|
Medical Insurance is essential in Japan. Doctors and Hospitals all have to be paid
for and you amy need a translator. |

Tours |
|

Most Tours in Niseko offer a door to door service and include hot spa (onsen), shopping,
dining, party, snow mobiling, Saporro city, resort, back country, cultural, tea
ceremonies, museum and many more. |

Employment |
|
|
|
Many companies and tour operators employ foreigners for the seasonal work in Niseko,
with some companies continuing through the summer months.

Niseko has plenty of things to do besides skiing and snow boarding:- snowmobiling,
trekking, horse back riding, shopping tours, hot springs (onsens) to name a few.

3G Mobile Telephones are compatible with the Japanese network. Alternatively you can
